True Crime refers to the political, psychological, and material violence enacted upon people at the hands of powerful politicians, oligarchs, and pastors. I’m drawing attention to the ways that a system’s design controls individual access, options, and incentives. These designs also resemble the constraints of games, which shape our behaviors. These games invite viewers to experience familiar constructs through a new sociological lens and explore the power or powerlessness they feel in the face of skewed and unclear rules.
